Independent news vloggers are expressing enthusiasm
for the new Trump-owned social media site "TruthSocial."
I'm always skeptical.
I stopped in... to read some of the info provided.
I read... the "privacy policy."
TruthSocial privacy policy
Participating on the "web" was always a journey into darkness for me.
I understood some of the dangers, and weighed my actions...
what I was benefitting... vs. what I was surrendering.
And I NEVER liked third-party cookies.
I liked cooking message boards... you know, cakes... salads...
but still seemed to get dragged into political dramas.
They call it "trolling." It's more like... a lot of "triggering."
(Arguments always seem to end in a confession of sorts.)
My first try... creating a website...
was a Directory of "safe" websites...
... sites that did not force cookies on your system in the background.
(I may return to that work, as a matter of fact.)
And... also... something else...
I was browsing info about website creation and came upon
a discussion about how small internet businesses couldn't make
enough to pay for their "pay per view" and "pay per click" ads.
They didn't know the cost... until it was... after the fact.
This wasn't friendly to start-ups and home-based businesses.
How the heck can anyone know... the details of that?
Who can argue that there was only 100 views... not 10,000...?
It just made more sense to sell ad space like newspapers do it...
by the block. Ya know... those who visit that page... might be
interested in... cookware... or camping gear. There was no need
to have a bot walk right into your computer and make itself at home.
It's like having strangers come in... leave a box on your dining table...
and later... a different stranger... walks right in and picks it up.
Total madness. Total violation of one's property and privacy.
I've always believed the internet was a huge mess...
designed very, very badly... and which exposed innocent people
to unseen dangers and traps... not to mention... the... porn... everywhere.
Should I be surprised...? when I get suggested ads on a video page
that references a product a vlogger talked about in a podcast last week?
Is someone really keeping track of everything a person even HEARS???
It is said that... no matter what you do...
there is no... anonymity... on the internet.
We are virtually trapped in the matrix... with our overlords.
You'd think that someone had taken upon themselves...
to... like scripture says... "refine with fire"...
or "sort goats from sheep"...
... an old one-two punch that leads us over a deadly cliff...
one human being forcing their will on another...
some... thrown into a "lake of fire..."
if you're a sadist, that is...
and if you discard the admonition of...
"judge not lest ye be judged."
I wrote a book about that kind of thinking and doctrine.
I believe we are to sort out TRUTHS from non-truths. And that's IT.
Anything that even smells... like... judgment... sickens me.
Yes. Privacy. Very important subject.
And, so... I was disappointed with TruthSocial.
It is no different than any other information-gathering website.
You are required to identify yourself...
not that the web browsers don't already give websites your information...
but I like to keep to a minimum... my identifiers.
I don't like living in such a world.
I like knowing who has my personal information.
How do I ever identify a "third-party" partner or advertiser?
And here I was... hoping for a truely safe free speech site.

So sorry... Mr. Trump. I'm going to... pass.
