Prison

I think it began in the 1990's... was it Bill Clinton who first mentioned it?
Just from memory... I've connected this with him, but I would need to
double-check the research on it...
ANYWAY... people were talking about what happens to criminals in prison...
that... they get raped... and it was a joke... even an extra reason to NOT
end up in prison. I can still hear people laughing about it.
And so now... I'm wondering... since this still gets
mentioned regularly as the hazards of prison life... if this has been
a PLAN... by authorities... to frighten criminals out of doing their
crimes.
What do you think? Has it worked? Is this a joke?
If rape really is... prevalent... in American prisons... where exactly
is the moral authority AGAINST rape? against any aggressive crime
on another human being? you know... if the point is... to stop rape...
and to stop crime against vulnerable people.
Once society places a human being in a locked environment... that
society better ensure that the punishments are LEGAL. I mean...
have you ever heard a judge say, "And I want you to be raped by
prison bullies regularly, maybe once a week."... Anyone?? heard
such a thing from a judge??
I hear of such crimes occurring in our prisons... and I see that NOTHING
is done about it... and possibly... it is encouraged... they possibly even disperse
these rapist bullies so that they can have their share of the weaker inmates...
while prison guards... look the other way.
What with marijuana laws never being repealed... something that can well
be considered a POLITICAL oppression against those who may disrupt the
"status quo" of systemic corruption... which we are now getting a very good
look at... a look at criminals who... like pedophiles... seek those places where
they can poach their victims... pedophiles seeking out children... politicians
seeking power and money from their benefactors.
I am aware... of the realities... of these political tricks against opponents.
I used to hear of "long hairs" (hippies) being thrown in pits out in the
country and doused with gasoline... to torture them. It's unfortunate
that the socialists got so "buddy buddy" with hippies... because it made
them into something they really were not. Sharing... caring... does not
mean you have surrendered your freedom to the GROUP.
I grew up
in those times... and never met a real socialist. Everyone that I knew...
worked... owned things that they took care of... were committed to
non-violence and peace among men... and were forced into politics
when the generation of our young men were being killed off... because the
politicians didn't know what the hell they were doing. Young non-violent
"law-breakers" were being put in prisons with older and hardened
violent criminals. And NO political party gave a hoot about it.
I shouldn't have gotten started on that subject.
The subject is... prisons.
I mentioned in my treatise "Covenant With Truth"... that we must
prove our moral rightness. Cruelty is always cruelty... whatever excuse
you may think that you have for it.
If crimes are being committed in American prisons... then the
system must be held accountable. The
authorities put these human beings in an inescapable situation... then
they had better make sure they are safe... safe from the criminals they
have put them together with.

I've thought about all this... the system of justice... the law... how to
discourage criminality... what to do with sociopaths who infect our
societies and make our lives fearful and unsafe. What to do...
I thought of... this...
Tiny cabins... with a small yard... where they can grow flowers or
beans in pots... and make prisons self-sustaining. Food is delivered
once a week... meat and cheese for sandwiches... soup to warm up...
milk, water, sodas if they are able...
there would be protocols to control such things...
but... no one would get inside a man's cell to abuse him...
because when criminals are locked up for long periods of time...
to be abused by anyone that can get AT them... you only magnify
your problems. That's a sure way to create sociopaths.
There is a danger to guards and people who work in prisons...
and this would be a way to keep criminals pacified... and everyone
else safe. Heck, even give them portable DVD players and a library
of movies... but... they AIN'T going nowhere... not to Burger King
and not to Walmart... they are pretty damn stuck... for a long time.
Being locked up...
away from anyone that they can possibly harm...
is the point...
not human torture.
