After watching a few recent Congressional hearings...
and seeing the evidence being exposed... piece by piece...
taking apart the lies... piece by piece...
I pictured the story of the "passover lamb"...
"you must eat every piece."
I thought back... to the days of my research.
Long ago... when I combed through the scriptures...
looking for the passage where God orders a blood sacrifice...
... and not finding any such passage...
I noticed that... the "passover lamb"... was not a "blood sacrifice"...
... there is NO "sacrificial lamb" going on here...
but this was rather... a special feast... a bitter feast...
to always be a memorial of this event...
the eve of the Hebrews' being freed from their slavery...
with a long, difficult journey ahead of them through the desert...
while the Lord wielded his wrath on the Pharaoh's Egypt.
The instructions for this "passover feast" were...
to paint the blood of each lamb on the pillars of their houses...
and to roast the lamb... not boil...
and... every piece was to be eaten.
Nothing was to be left over.
If the family could not eat it all
then a neighbor would share the feast with them.
ALL... was to be eaten... (used?)...
with "all its purtenances."
Exodus: Chapter 12
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months:
it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying,
In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
And if the household be too little for the lamb,
let him and his neighbour next unto his house
take it according to the number of the souls;
every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year:
ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month:
and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel
shall kill it in the evening.
And they shall take of the blood,
and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
And they shall eat the flesh in that night,
roast with fire, and unleavened bread;
and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire;
his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning;
and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
And thus shall ye eat it;
with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet,
and your staff in your hand;
and ye shall eat it in haste:
it is the LORD'S passover.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night,
and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt,
both man and beast;
and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:
I am the LORD.
And the blood shall be to you for a token
upon the houses where ye are:
and when I see the blood, I will pass over you,
and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you,
when I smite the land of Egypt.
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial;
and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD
throughout your generations;
ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
As I wrote this essay
I went to look something else up...
and then returned back to the Exodus text...
and... began to look for a particular word...
and lo and behold... I had returned to Genesis 12...
and Genesis Chapter 12 was the story of Abram in Egypt...
and how Pharaoh had seen the beautiful Sarah
and wanted to take her... for his wife.
Whereupon... Egypt began suffering plagues...
and Pharaoh was so frightened of this God of Abram
that he enriched him with herds and riches...
Abram had been afraid for his life...
and said that Sarah was his sister...
so it was upon Pharaoh... to act honorably.
Sister... wife... whoever she was...
it was upon him to respect her honor... ANYWAY.
Genesis: Chapter 12
"And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
And there was a famine in the land:
and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there;
for the famine was grievous in the land.
And it came to pass,
when he was come near to enter into Egypt,
that he said unto Sarai his wife,
Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
Therefore it shall come to pass,
when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say,
This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister:
that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
And it came to pass, that,
when Abram was come into Egypt,
the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.
The princes also of Pharaoh saw her,
and commended her before Pharaoh:
and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.
And he entreated Abram well for her sake:
and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses,
and menservants, and maidservants,
and she asses, and camels.
And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house
with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.
And Pharaoh called Abram, and said,
What is this that thou hast done unto me?
why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?
Why saidst thou, She is my sister?
so I might have taken her to me to wife:
now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him:
and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
Funny...
... sometimes I think of scripture as history...
and sometimes I think of scripture... as prophecy...
and sometimes I think... that...
I think that...
Joseph... a great prophet... saw the track humanity was on...
knew that there would be a day in mankind's history...
when... people would lose their way...
that... they would accept slavery...
that they would "serve" strange gods and ideals...
and in doing so...
would endanger the entire world.
Thus... eating from the tree of good and evil...
(being able to devise anything...
on earth... or in heaven...)
would have deadly consequences.
One day we would destroy each other.
What is... another word for... passing over... and haste...
And sometimes... I go looking for alternate words...
to try to understand more clearly
what had been translated...
from one ancient... and simple... dialect...
to... another... ancient... and undeveloped... language.
And... why... put blood on the pillars of their houses?
Doesn't God know...? already?
Blood...? maybe... to show that it is no longer occupied...?
that it would be abandoned... as if someone had died...?
and eating in haste... perhaps meaning...
they wouldn't be able to take anything with them...?
and to acknowledge the circumstances...?
and... not to gloat over horrible things such as this... ?
... and to pray... while the stench passes... over...
and... remain innocent...
while the hand of God works in Egypt...
and returns Pharaoh's commands...
upon Pharaoh himself...
for Moses had told Pharaoh...
"if there is another plague on Egypt
it is by your word... that it comes"...
So... here I am wondering... what it all might mean for us...
what it might mean...
as we still seek a land that is free...
perhaps...
The truth is coming out... and it is ugly.
The truth may be too sickening... to watch.
Close the door... and pray.
Let the truth... set you free.
