If there was a mission set upon by a group of men
to design an American form of government
when the breakaway as mere colonies occurred...
and the New World could design from scratch
a future free of tyranny...
a type of society and its government that would
be a revolution to end revolutions...
that... allowed the people to decide the rules they would live by...
... if there was such a mission...
it would look like United States of America.
Revolution... is part of our Constitutional system.
When society faces ills... society can address those ills...
through the power of representative government...
the power to sue the government... to achieve justice...
and the power to change our Constitution.
We've had the power to address the issues we are facing...
but... as a people... we haven't done the hard work of it.
Our Constitution is a Living Revolution...
empowering the people to rally... to make those changes.
When the rules that we must live by... do not serve us well...
we don't need to fight in the streets...
we don't need a Convention of States...
we don't need to rewrite our sacred documents
and risk losing the whole history of them...
we need to set about defining a good solution for our problem...
and do what we must... to achieve that change.
This would involve public discussions... addressing the possibilities.
I'm not a Constitutional scholar...
but I've had a few ideas of things that could be ripe for change.
Well... HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY... I'm gonna tell ya.
Have a wonderful day remembering our heroes... who believed.
Here's my amateur suggestions for possible amendments to
the Constitution... that might resolve what Congress cannot.
1.
Give the power of appointment of Senators back to the States.
Originally... U.S. Senators were named by State legislatures. If this were
returned to the original design there wouldn't be a need to pass laws for
term limits... or incompetence... or lying politicians who shame the state.
And... add to that... the power to recall such a Senator.
2.
Establish a more clear cause for impeachment of any government actor...
requiring evidence to a Congressional committee... and a quicker action to remove that person... even if temporarily...
based on clear evidence of danger to the public or nation.
Perhaps a committee with evidence can enact a temporary sanction...
until the Senate has the chance to examine the situation.
3.
Outlaw genetically altered food, for animals or humans.
4.
Establish a "good conduct" standard for the banking system to protect
investors and institutions from rogue actors.
5.
Set national standards for the election process.
6.
Declare hemp a vital natural resource and allow farmers to grow
it without inhibition or permit process. These laws have made a mockery
of law... and are based solely on politics and power players.
Hemp has so many beneficial uses... even to renewing foul soils...
that new quality products would emerge onto the market.
It does not require chemical help like cotton does.
Products made from hemp can last generations.
And correct the rating of hemp... in it's natural state... in all its natural forms...
as a "Level 3" substance... not a "Level 1" dangerous substance.
We have forced the entire world... even small villages in the Himalayas...
to follow this insane war on marijuana... when many or most
cultures have depended on the hemp for all their known history...
and have used hemp in many useful ways... clothing... nutrition...
rope... housing... sails for ships that do not rot or tear from salty ocean
water.
Or... just ask the people of New Hampshire.
7.
Lobbying representatives of the people is considered bribery.
8.
Political parties must be a public trust...
and not a method of buying and selling the votes of our representatives.
There can be no dictates on the free speech of any member.
9.
In the United States Congress and positions of power in Federal offices...
there can be no dual citizenship officer... elected or appointed.
10.
Congressional statements and opinions must be founded in truth.
Witnesses in hearings will swear an oath of truth.
Any member or witness who presents evidence... document or speech...
that they knew to be false... will be sanctioned by an appropriate
Committee or a special committee called for that purpose.
The sanction will involve a document to be written and sent to the
Department of Justice... and sent as well to that person's employer
or business associates...
and to the State Bar Association... and enter the document into public
records via newsprint and public journals and news outlets.
11.
Privacy in our communications... and protection from those
methods that violate our computer systems... including ad services
such as googleads. This is just a back door to invade our
private interests and communications.
And no mass accumulation of everyone's communications by
"intelligence agency" either within our government, or business world,
or foreign country.
And no person should be compelled to surrender their right to privacy
via a "user agreement" or other method of force... unless approved by
a court of law.
12.
No agency of the federal government that investigates crime can bear weapons
and enforce the law. If any citizen is suspected of a crime, the
investigative agency must present such evidence and get approval by
a court to pursue a further investigation.
The court then passes the declaration on to the Sheriff in that state.
If the Sheriff discovers innocence... the evidence is sent back to the court
for communication to the original investigative agency.
If the Sheriff discovers evidence of a crime... it is handled in the state...
in a court of a person's peers...
enforced by state actors... not an armed federal agency.
If citizens object to the methods used by their law enforcement agents...
they can address this with their state legislatures. People get to decide
what laws they will agree to live under.
No federal police force.
Federal laws are laws in the states... unless the people have voted otherwise.
13.
Abortion... being abhorent to the respect we must hold as
civilized people to our human lives... and the protection we feel
compelled to enforce for the pregnant woman and her baby...
cannot be considered a method of birth control.
Pregnancy cannot be ended except for rare and special medical
reasons... including rape... and a malformed fetus.
A doctor must submit the evidence to a court to create a public record.
Choice happens before two people have sex... not after.
14.
Education in public institutions cannot be used as a platform
for social indoctrination. Teachers instruct in the skills... and are not
there to raise peoples' children for them. Teachers must communicate
all events or problems to the parents, and children must be well-behaved
among the other children.
Parents of each school set the rules that principals and teachers must abide
by... leaving the administration of logistics to the school board... not the
decisions on books or protocol.
15.
Corporations must only operate in the public interest. This would
include investors, of course... but it would also include general public
trust. No more getting a fine for punishment of a crime or proven
negligence... the corporate charter should be yanked... until the
corporation corrects and makes whole all harm done. Investors will be
just as liable as the corporate board... if it is knowable that
the company operates repeatedly outside of the law.
16.
Advocating a change of the entire government to a new form of
government... outside the Constitutional parameters we are given
to enact change lawfully... would be considered a sanctioned
philosophy and such a person cannot hold public office.
17.
Public endangerment by transport of hazardous materials and
substances in any method that does not wholely protect from accidents...
is declared illegal. No one can really remedy completely the damage
done when accidents happen. If they do... the company is closed down.
Public dumps, sewage plants, chemical transport, medical transport...
all considered hazardous waste... and methods of protecting people
and property must be addressed.
18.
Daily Press and public journals must reflect the events of the day...
in a truthful manner... as they are considered public record.
All available evidence must be enumerated whenever a statement is
made concerning an event or a person. To imply something
is a fact...
also requires evidence. Opinions must be offered separately
from the original statement... in a manner that is distinguished from
the story itself.
If a statement isn't one of fact... then it should be made known
to the reader at the time he reads it.
No person should be tried in a court of public opinion... without the
ability to defend one's self.
19.
All government monies must be tracked in real time.
All records of all government agencies must be accessible to Congress.
Every dollar spent anywhere... must be recorded on a document that
states the purpose of that expenditure. Supervisors will have an office list
of purchases that it submits to the Congressional record...
and kept available for oversight by an applicable committee.
And... perhaps... require all purchases or expenses to first
be approved by a Congressional committee.
