MOON RIVER 1960 - Henry Mancini Moon river, wider than a mile I'm crossing you in style some day Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way Two drifters, off to see the world There's such a lot of world to see We're after the same rainbow's end Waitin' 'round the bend My huckleberry friend Moon river and me Bob Lind - Elusive Butterfly 1965 - Bob Lind You might wake up some mornin' To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind And if you're quick enough to rise You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow Out on the new horizon You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings And if the sleep has left your ears You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow Don't be concerned, it will not harm you It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love You might have heard my footsteps Echo softly in the distance through the canyons of your mind I might have even called your name As I ran searching after something to believe in You might have seen me runnin' Through the long-abandoned ruins of the dreams you left behind If you remember something there That glided past you followed close by heavy breathin' Don't be concerned, it will not harm you It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love George Benson - Beyond The Sea "Beyond the Sea" is the English-language version of the French song "La Mer" by Charles Trenet, popularized by Bobby Darin in 1959. While the French original was an ode to the sea, Jack Lawrence... who composed the English lyrics... turned it into a love song. Somewhere beyond the sea Somewhere waiting for me My lover stands on golden sands And watches the ships that go sailin' Somewhere beyond the sea She's there watching for me If I could fly like birds on high Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing It's far beyond the stars It's near beyond the moon I know beyond a doubt My heart will lead me there soon We'll meet beyond the shore We'll kiss just as before Happy we'll be beyond the sea And never again I'll go sailing I know beyond a doubt, ah My heart will lead me there soon We'll meet (I know we'll meet) beyond the shore We'll kiss just as before Happy we'll be beyond the sea And never again I'll go sailing No more sailing So long sailing Bye bye sailing Bobby Darin "Dream Lover" 1959 - Bobby Darin Every night I hope and pray A dream lover will come my way A girl to hold in my arms And know the magic of her charms 'Cause I want (Yeah-yeah, yeah) A girl (Yeah-yeah, yeah) To call (Yeah-yeah, yeah) My own (Yeah-yeah, yeah) I want a dream lover So I don't have to dream alone Dream lover, where are you With a love, oh, so true And the hand that I can hold To feel you near as I grow old 'Cause I want (Yeah-yeah, yeah) A girl (Yeah-yeah, yeah) To call (Yeah-yeah, yeah) My own (Yeah-yeah, yeah) I want a dream lover So I don't have to dream alone Donna Summer - The Impossible Dream 1965 from "Man of La Mancha" Donna's introduction: Thank you. I'd like to just sing a song... to all of you people... who have a dream. I love you, too. I love you! Yo se quero! Thank you! so much. This is a song about dreams and I would like to encourage all of you to dream... the impossible dream. To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrows And to run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong And to love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into Hell For a Heavenly cause And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest My final rest... And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage The reach the impossible dream... To reach the unreachable... star.... |
