to commit oneself to a challenge or task;
to accept a responsibility;
to acknowledge a fact.

From the video comments:

This song actually has A LOT more lyrics, most of which are sung by the bar patrons.

Unfortunately, it was decided by the studio brass that the audience would enjoy the
dance number more than actually hearing the song sung in its entirety, so most of the lyrics were cut, and today only those who have heard the original Broadway cast LP, or who saw it performed live onstage years ago, have heard this clever song in its entirety. Even today, when it's performed onstage, it's usually performed exactly like it was in the film.

You can hear the song in its entirety, performed by the ORIGINAL Mollie Brown (Tammy Grimes) HERE:

    "Belly Up To the Bar, Boys"

Belly up! Belly up to the bar boys!
Better loosen your belts.
Only drink when you’re all alone
Or with somebody else.

Belly up! Belly up to the bar boys!
Better have a few more.
And never whirl with a three-toed girl.
Or a discontented horrible

Example, like a girl whose name was Carrie
She carried her charms to everybody else,
But her I had to marry
Or die, die, die
Had to marry Carrie
Or die, die, die

Belly up, belly up to the bar boys!
Let your money be seen!
Only drink by day or night
Or some wheres in between

Belly up, belly up to the bar boys!
Very good for your mind!
A-both feet on the rails
Will make you fall on your behind

I call her be Zelda
She giggles at me and everyone else
But, I had to marry Zelda
Or die, die, die
Got to wed be Zelda
Or die, die, die
