A Monument To Insanity

The "Ten Commandments" represent a desire
to become a civilized society.
This is not the "monument to insanity" that I am referring to.
When I searched for a picture of a monument for this essay...
this monument was the closest one to what I had pictured...
Please follow... I will explain...

This monument of the Ten Commandments
was built alongside a hill... called "Lion Hill."
It was the first of its kind in the world.
At the dedication of this monument to the Ten Commandments
Senator Jonah David Jang spoke of his vision...
"When I received the revelation about the Ten Commandments
I did not understand it fully... neither did I know exactly what to do
about it.
Within that period I received a visitor from the Phillipines
who resided in Jerusalem then... prophetess Grace Gupharma...
I shared the revelation with her... and she also told me about
the Ten Commandment monument in the Phillipines.
At that time, they had only one...
and we both agreed to pray overnight
to get the clarity about what God wants me to do.
After the prayer... when I was convinced that God's revelation to me
was to erect the Ten Commandments here in Jos, plateau state.
I directed the team to search for a suitable spot
for the erection of the tablets.
Three sites were recommended, including the present site.
When I visited this site, I felt a very strong presence of the Holy Spirit
and I just went down on my knees...
and everyone with me went down on their knees.
A voice said to me... "This is the place."
In the 1960s era, before the internet, the way that people got information
was through their local newspapers... over the radio and TV... the library...
and magazines... and it must have been in the "classifieds" section of some
magazine... that I came across the advertisement for the Rosacrucians.
Mystical things fascinate us... and the ad was recruiting new members by
the tease of... learning telepathic communication...
humans talking to each other with their minds. It was an intriguing
idea to me. Maybe there are such mysteries in the world that people
can discover... through meditation (I almost wrote
medication
twice now)... through meditation... perhaps they can achieve
"higher levels of consciousness"...!
I didn't answer the ad... or even find out anything more about those
Rosacrucians... but I did begin to think about... what it would
mean... if people could read each others' thoughts... and if they could
READ them... could they CONTROL them. In the end, I totally rejected
ANY desire to do such a thing to another person... whether they agreed
with such a thing or NOT. I didn't like the idea of violating the only
real sanctuary human beings have... their thinking minds.
I wondered though... if such a thing is possible...
are there people who can
read minds... and thus have a heightened ability to deceive others...?
having discovered what another person would believe or not believe...?
After all, what would be the purpose of this ability...?
Would it be to talk secretly when among other people...?
or to silently send messages for help...?
What great reward would one get... from the ultimate violation of our
very humanity. It just didn't seem worth the trade-off. Except for the
ability to help the totally paralyzed to communicate... all the reasons
seemed to me... to be nepharious reasons.
And perhaps it was under the premise... that such an ability would help disabled
people to communicate... that the project to map the mind ensued.
In the book "I'm OK, You're OK"... a best-seller in the 1970s...
one of the first things that you read is how scientists are experimenting
on brains. They opened the skull and prodded sectors in the brain to... make
the arms raise up... or make toes to curl... or... spark memories.
When George H.W. Bush talked about "1000 points of light"
it reminded me of that book and those brain studies.
Just to note...
I was so disgusted by what I was reading in that book... that I never
finished it. Everyone said it was really good, though.
And then... there are stories of MK Ultra...

Project MKUltra (or MK-Ultra) was
an illegal human experimentation program designed
and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
It began in 1953 and was halted in 1973.
MKUltra used numerous methods to manipulate
its subjects' mental states and brain functions.
"MKUltra used covert administration of high doses of psychoactive
drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals without the subjects' consent,
electroshocks, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and
sexual abuse, and other forms of torture.
Similar atrocities had been conducted in Nazi work camps.

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
One of the prominent stories in the Bible is the story of the great flood.
Mankind was evolving in a violent way. Noah lived out and away from
these societies... surely a shepherd clan living out on the great plains...
as was Adam and Eve's family... shepherds on the plains.
So... it directs our scrutiny to larger societies... and their cities.
We see pictures of those ancient days... portraying cities where
there were always MANY strangers coming and going...
but... there are many stories of whole cities being conquered
and the inhabitants enslaved and the booty... TAKEN.
We saw a lot of that when Jacob's tribe returned there...
Conquering was how they STOLE Canaan.
So... we surely can imagine that the citizens of these cities would not be so
unsuspecting of possible enemies arriving.
Hey, misunderstandings happen, ya know...
and an entire city destroyed because of a bad merchant or something.
It wouldn't take long for the idea to become desirable...
to otherwise... peaceful inhabitants...
of forming a military... for... protection.
And so goes the rest of history... and war.
I wondered... is it REALLY a decree of God that tragedy happens...?
that he actually speaks and the flood happens...
or are these things the inevitable result of paths that people take...
that whole societies take... that can only end in destruction... and war.
When God told Adam & Eve in "The Garden of Eden" that if
they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that
"you shall surely die"... perhaps this was not so much a punishment
but an inevitability... the inevitable end.
Is the inevitable end of humans' quest for knowledge... destruction...?
Would we end up killing each other about it...?
Or... would we find at the end of our quests... a world not fit to live in...
a world not fit for man or beast to live in...
Would we despise our own animal nature...?
Would we become disconnected from... the physical world itself...?
I took the time to really think through what it might be like
to talk to other people telepathically... without speaking words.
How could you tell the difference between your own thinking processes...
and the input from another person's mind...?
Do you ring a telephone
in their head... and wait for them to answer...?
Do you say "greetings from your brother of the minds"...?
If you get an urge to eat a banana... where did THAT originate...
And those feelings about this or that... whose feelings are they...?
Oh, wait... this is Christmas... not Halloween...!!!
And well... CERN scared the bejeebus out of me.
And when Carl Sagan sent a small space craft into
the far regions of outer space...
a spacecraft with knowledge about us... (we got lots of water here)...
for any highly advanced space creatures to find...
describing who we are on earth...
well, that scared me, too.
Do we really want to invite highly evolved beings from other planets
to come to earth to visit us...?
But... what if they aren't well-meaning beings...?
What if they are carnivorus... and think of us as food...
or slaves... wouldn't we be... enslaved...?
I've realized that science was doing things
that just wasn't worth the risk of the possible tragedy that might occur.
I began to realize that there will be a point...
in our evolution as thinking creatures...
that we will go too too far...
even to the point of destroying the entire planet...!
We can control the weather...! cause earthquakes...!
and with a small nuclear device they can even
cause volcanoes to erupt and tidal waves to occur...!
They are trying to drill to the center of the earth...!
They can stretch our stratosphere until it is just...
a thin whisper of protection on our beautiful orb of glass...!
And so... as the human species on this planet...
we need to wake ourselves the hell up...
and resolve that there must be limits to this.
There must be limits that EVERY ONE of us knows... and can recite...
like some great religion... that... we all know and understand...
that science has limits beyond which...
beyond which follows... the path to destruction and hell on earth.
And so... we should have a great... marker... a monument.
A burial ground would be prepared in the desert...
with walls 3 feet thick... where we will take these kinds of technologies
and bury them for all eternity... sealed... inaccessible, and protected.
And we should place a great monument on this graveyard...
and call it A Monument to Insanity
because there MUST be... an END...
there must be a stopping place
where no sane human being will ever go... at peril to us all.
Our desire to know all the answers... to conquer everything...
turns us against even our own selves... our own sanity.
On that monument will be a pledge...
that... on this day... in this place... mankind called an end to insanity.
"We shall go no further."
